一、課程說明(Course Description)

Welcome to MS536200. In this class we will learn the basic concepts of what has come to be called Molecular Biology Engineering. Molecular Biology Engineering consists of the informational processes of cells and organisms, multidisciplinary training about bio-nano science/technology, and human dynamics. We start with what we already know about cells (i.e. micron scale) and about the chemistry of small molecules (i.e. nano scale) and use them to learn about the large macromolecules that determine how cells function and how gene encode those functions. Rather than learning just about what cellular structures do, we focus on what directs their assembly and function, and especially where this information comes from. Next, we will learn about cutting-edge knowledge and state-of-art experimental techniques such as nano-scanning probes, near field optics, surface plasma resonance, and fluorescent spectroscope to explore the molecular universe in nano scale, especially for the purpose of single molecular detection. Finally, we will couple molecular biology and engineering schemes with Human Dynamics. In short, my objectives of this class are,

1.Deliver fundamental knowledge of life science and molecular biology
2.Introduce cutting-edge knowledge and experimental techniques about bio-techniques and bio-nano science/technology
3.Multidisciplinary trainings about, nano fabrication, nano-characterization, and bio-characterization, and bio-analysis
4.Inspire you to create new ideas

In the end, I hope to inspire your interests, encourage your new ideas, and also reward your hardworking.
