This course intends to provide an overview of statistics used in linguistic experiments. Topics covered include ethics, problem identification and hypothesis formation, variable determination, hypothesis testing, external validity, and research report. Students often find it helpful to form study groups with classmates to discuss the reading and exercises each week. The course instructor encourages such cooperative study habits. However, each student must work independently in writing up all homework assignments and the project report.
