教科書
Thermal Physics (second edition, 1980) by Kittel and Kroemer.

一般來說,教科書最好不要太舊,才能跟上科學進展的腳步。很認真地讀了幾本新的教科書,發現 Kittel and
Kroemer 寫的熱物理真是經典,也很對我的胃口。當然這和作者都在美國的加州大學任教無關,尤其與 Kroemer 在
風光明媚的 Santa Barbara 教書這件事,特別沒有關係。

背景知識
General Physics:
Temperature, entropy and heat.
Bolzmann distribution.
Stationary states (energy levels) in quantum physics.
Applied Math:
Partial differentiation.
Probability theory.

熱統計物理所需的背景知識不多,如果你之前很混,這是你東山再起的好時機。但這並不是說這門課很容易,因為上
課內容包含很多新觀念,所以需要相當多的時間才能消化。教科書後面的習題一定要做,不然你跟得上的機率很小。


期末成績
學期共有三次評量:兩次期中考與期末考。三次分數加總後,其平均值為期末原始分數,視全班學習狀況於整體比較
後,以等第制給定最後的成績。

每次考試有6題,每題佔20分,共120分,4題為計算題,1題為論述題,另有1題加分題。計算題由課本習題改寫(一
定會改到背答案是沒用的,所以請不要白費力氣),事先演練並徹底瞭解習題,將有效提昇你的分數。論述題請於考前
多多練習,加分題是由上課內容延伸而來,可以做為學習的指標。


上課時間
每星期上兩次80分鐘的課,上課時間如下:

Wednesdays (08:30-09:50)
