一、課程說明(Course Description)
本課程將著重於如何建構數學模型來描述生物現象及應用數學解決生物學上的問題。
除了模型建構外,我們將訓練學生使用數學軟件:如MATLAB、MAPLE或MATHEMATICA等
做數值計算。學生只須具備大一微積分,即可修本課程。我們尤其歡迎生科系學生選
修本課程。
本課程將著重於簡單的微分方程,線性代數及probability distribution之應用,其
綱要如下:
Ⅰ. Scalar Differential Equations with Applications to Biology.
Ⅱ. Difference Equations with Applications in Biology.
(i) Discretized Logistic Map
(ii) Mathematical models in Population genetics
Ⅲ. Basic Concept of Population Dynamics:
Lotka-Volterra Competition Model, Predator-Prey System , Food Chain Models, Mutualist System , Mathematical Models of Chemical reactions.
Ⅳ. Simple Linear Algebra:
Eigenvalue Problems , Least Square – curve fitting , applications in
Population Biology
V. Reaction Diffusion Equations, Pattern Formations
VI. Probability distributions:
Binomial , Poisson , X-square distributions with applications in
Biology.
VII. Introduction to Mathematical Models in Molecular Biology
