一、課程說明 (Course Description)

This course is to provide the students who lack basic training in materials
science an introduction to the fundamental concepts of biomaterials, including
three types of biomaterials (metals, ceramics and synthetic and natural
macromolecules) and their chemical structure, physical properties, processing and
applications. Biocompatibility of materials pertinent to their applications in
biomedical engineering is the other important issue to be given in this course.
This includes the interactions of biomaterials with proteins and cells and
biomaterial-elicited specific immune responses.
