<br>About the Course
<br>
<br>Course ob<x>jective:  This course is intended to have students understand 
<br>the current important issues about global economy. The regular lectures are 
<br>organized under the fr<x>amework of Trade and Development, with topics cover 
<br>theory, history, institution, and policy. In addition, two selective 
<br>lectures will explore recent hot issues of globalization – cultural 
<br>diversity and creative industries, and new challenge of central banking. 
<br>These lectures are given by the professors from the Economics Department. 
<br>There are also two lectures which are delivered by guest speakers to cover 
<br>the contemporary policy issues,
<br> 
<br>Students are required to do assignments and engage in class discussion, and 
<br>finish a final team report. Through these requirements, you should apply the 
<br>knowledge form this course to your work or career plan, and also be .more 
<br>influential in public issue. The last two weeks are reserved for students to 
<br>present the team projects and review what you have learned.  
<br>
<br>Course Material. There is no textbook. We will announce references and a 
<br>reading list one or two weeks before each lecture. Lecture notes and/or 
<br>handouts for class discussions will be distributed to you in each class. 
<br>
<br>Grading. 
<br>
<br>The final grade will be determined by the attendance, the class discussion, 
<br>assignments and team project report with presentation. Weights for grading 
<br>are ba<x>sed on the three items: 30% for the attendance and discussion, 40% 
<br>for the assignments, and 30% for the final report.
