一、課程說明(Course Description)
Neuroscience is a multidisciplinary research field. From the biological perspective, neuroscience involves
single neurons to a neuronal network (brain and central nerve system), and eventually this network conduct
animal behaviors. However, to reveal the mechanism of this sophisticated neuronal network, cutting edge
technologies such as automated behavior quantification software, super-resolution microscopy, AI image
analysis for circuit computation. In this class, we aim to study how to study a neuroscience question
systematically, and how these new technologies were brought into play to advance our understanding to the
neuroscience field.

(將原18週課程內的1. Imaging 部分集中為一週上課,讓同學更能比較二種工具之差異; (2) 三週實驗課程縮減為兩
週,課程內容不變但密集上課)
Week 1: Introduction of neuroscience research.
Week 2: Genetic tools for neuroscience research, part 1
Week 3: Genetic tools for neuroscience research part 2.
Week 4: Animal behavior assays.
Week 5: Electrophysiology
Week 6: Optical imaging for functional and structural imaging.
Week 7: Midterm
Week 8: Experiment (Animal behavior)
Week 9: Experiment (Functional and structural imaging)
Week 10-16: Case study (reports)
