● 課程說明(Course Description)
This course is designed for undergraduate students, aiming to introduce
fundamental principles and practices of English language assessment. The course
covers important concepts of language assessment, such as (1) types of language
assessment; (2) the adoption/ adaptation of language assessment; (3) the
development of language assessment; and (4) the presentation of language-
assessment results. Students are expected to apply these concepts to design
appropriate assessment tasks and to evaluate different aspects of English
learners’ language skills. On completion of the course, students will
develop/gain:
■ an awareness of various approaches to language assessment and current issues in
this field,
■ an ability to evaluate particular testing or assessment procedures,
■ experience in designing a small-scale test or assessment procedure, and
■ skills in using a spreadsheet program to use its calculation functions, graphing
tools, and programming for presenting assessment results.
