1. 課程說明(Course Description)







The primary reason for using model organisms in research is the evolutionary principle that all organisms



share some degree of similarity in different aspects of functionality and genetics due to common ancestry.



Genetic analysis in model organisms is a powerful approach to gaining detailed insight into biological



processes. This class offers essential information about the commonly used model organisms in biomedical



research. Professors with expertise in each model organism will cover each model's basic introductory lecture



and how to apply these model organisms in studying a range of biological questions. In addition, the course



teaches a variety of skills that are important for every researcher in the biomedical field.







At the end of the course, the student has:







1. Obtained a thorough introduction to research in the Mouse, Yeast, Xenopus, C. elegans, Drosophila,



Zebrafish, and Arabidopsis







2. Gained a basic understanding of genetics and how genetic analysis can be used to dissect biological



processes







3. Acquired knowledge of critical reading scientific articles from different model organisms
