Required reading: journal articles and papers presented in class
Course Outline
I. Characterization Techniques (XRD, SEM, TEM, EDS, etc.)
II. Synthesis and Characterization of Nanoparticles
III. Patterning of Nanoparticles
IV. Facet-Dependent Properties (Electrical, Photocatalytic, Optical, and
Heterogenerous Catalysis)
IV. Synthesis and Structural Characterization of Nanowires
V. Property Characterization of Nanowires
VI. Carbon Nanotubes
VII. Mesostructured Silica Materials
VIII. Recent and Interesting Journal Articles on Nanomaterials
This course gives a broad overview of various classes of nanomaterials. You will
learn the latest development in the demonstrations of facet-dependent properties
in semiconductor nanocrystals.
There will be one exam in the second half of the semester. You also need to
submit a midterm report and a final report. Detail will be given to enrolled
students before the semester begins.
