*課程說明(Course Description)*



This course aims to provide sufficient mathematic training for students whose



majors are in engineering. The content emphasizes in ordinary, Fourier analysis,



and integral transform. This course is the mathematic foundation of



electromagnetics, modern physics, solid- state physics and so on. Basic mathematic



skills, especially calculus, are required.

*教學方式(Teaching Method)*



Mainly on blackboard. Supplementary materials in Powerpoint slides will be used



too.







*教學進度(Syllabus)*



1. First-order ordinary differential equations



2. Second-order linear differential equations (including Power series method and



special functions, i.e. Bessel functions, Legendre's polynomials)



3. Laplace transforms and Fourier transforms



4. Sturm-Liouville Problem and eigenfunction expansion (wide-sense Fourier Series)







*成績考核(Evaluation)*



Attendance, participation homework and quiz (20 %), Midterm I (25 %), Midterm II



(25 %), Final exam (30 %)
