課程說明(Course Description)
Our focus is on the use of perceptual/sensory information for the control of
movements
across the life span. We will discuss the behavioral and neurological research
examining the role of different sensory modalities (e.g., somatosensory,
visual information) in motor functions and skills during the development. We
will also examine research relating to the effect of physical intervention
(e.g., motor skills, sports, physical activity) on physiological and
psychological changes in typically and atypically developing children as well
as younger
and older adults.

Selected journals will be handed out in class or distributed via email

教學進度(Syllabus)
The course includes the following topics:
- Definitions of motor development; growth and maturation; the motor milestone
- Theoretical perceptive of motor development
- Development of fundamental motor skills (e.g., object control skills,
locomotion skills, ballistic skills)
- Relationship between somatosensory function on motor skills in typically,
atypically developing children, younger and older adults
- Characteristics of sensory and motor functions in atypically developing
children (e.g., developmental coordination disorder)
- Assessments and examinations of motor skill performances
- Effect of movement intervention (e.g., motor skills, musical instruments,
sports, physical activity) on physical, physiological or psychological changes
(from behavioral and neurological perspectives) across the life span
